Chicago, and the never ending road trip...

"Holy Cow" what a wild and crazy week it was. We had the opportunity to fly out to St. Louis last Wednesday to help Alisha's oldest brother and his family move back out to Utah.
On Thursday morning we got up very early and made the almost 5 hour drive from Collinsville, IL to Chicago. What an awesome time we had!! We only had 1 day to spend in Chicago, so we wanted to make the most of our time, and believe me we did. First we played at the Navy Pier, and then we took a boat tour on the Chicago river which winds through the city of Chicago which was really very cool. We then took another tour of the city, but this time by trolley which was also very fun.
Then it was off to try some "Chicago Style" pizza, which is something everybody should try at least once in a lifetime.
We then took a taxi ride over to the Hancock Building which is 100 stories tall and has the fastest elevator in North America in it. The views from the top of the tower were amazing, you could overlook the entire city of Chicago, look forever across Lake Michigan, and from what we were told you can also see into 4 or 5 different states.
When we got out of the tower we decided to walk back to Navy Pier and try some "Chicago Dogs." These hot dogs were far better than any you can ever buy in any store.
Well after we got done eating the world's finest hot dogs, it was time to load up the car and head back to Collinsville. We just want to say thank you to Mike & Shanda for showing us such a great time in this wonderful city, next time we go out there though we will have to catch a Cubs vs Cardinals game.
Well Friday morning arrived and it was time to get to some serious work. We all worked very hard packing and cleaning the house, and loading the moving truck. We were rewarded for all of our hard work with an excellent dinner, and then the best custard in the world for dessert.
Saturday morning came very early and once again we worked very hard to get everything done, around 4:30 p.m. we had everything loaded and hit the road to Utah. Everything went smoothly and we arrived in Lincoln Nebraska at approx 3 a.m.

Sunday morning is when the real fun started, we woke to discover that one of the tires on the trailor was not just flat, but had blown up sometime while we were driving Saturday night. So we had to wait around for awhile until someone was able to come and replace the tire.
This same exact tire decided to go flat yet again somewhere in the middle of Nebraska, so we had to wait yet again for someone to come and replace the tire. Once that was replaced, it was back on the road for us. We were convinced that we would never get out of Nebraska, but then we finally saw the "Welcome to Wyoming" sign and we were all very excited to finally be out of Nebraska and into Wyoming.
We stopped for the night in Cheyenne, and then the next morning it was on to Utah. Believe me, driving from Illinois to Utah is one heck of a long drive especially when you are with a moving truck that was lucky to get above 65 mph and on several occasions never got above 55mph.

We were happy to go and help Mike, Shanda, Parker, and Landon move back to Utah, it is great having them here, but if they ever move again then it better be at least in the same time zone as Utah.

Boy, I wonder how many sparks were flying off that tire. It was probably a great firework show for anyone driving behind you. Sounds like fun, sometime drive through Texas and you will realize just how small Nebraska is.
